Blackpool’s original appeal as a resort was due to the health benefits derived from a break by the seaside. 200 years later, and we see Blackpool’s residents suffering from some of the greatest health inequalities in the UK. Our vision is to restore Blackpool as a healthy place to live – where our natural environment provides a framework to support the health of our citizens. To achieve this, our cross-sector partnership will lead a sustained transformation in the way our green spaces are planned, delivered and managed – helping nature to thrive in the most-dense of urban settings – and enabling our citizens to thrive from the benefits of access to nature on their doorsteps. We will develop an accessible network of quality open spaces including our coastline and our urban fringe. Our housing areas, schools, roadsides, health settings and business premises will offer a home for nature and support climate adaptation.
