Plantlife Ryewater Farm Nature Reserve extension - Land purchase and establishment for conservation

This project will allow Plantlife to expand one of its core grasslands nature reserves by acquiring an adjacent area of 1.8ha. This purchase, the associated initial capital works and our long-term commitment to its future management will allow us to bring this land into favourable condition. We will be able to directly contribute to restoring England’s species rich grassland. Acquisition of this extension to our existing reserve at Ryewater Farm is a cost-effective and efficient way to extend appropriate management. This land is within the same SSSI and can be classified as the same grassland habitat to that of Ryewater Farm. Plantlife’s acquisition of this land would offer potential for grassland recovery, improving and enhancing it to the same standard as that of the land already in the charity’s management. This project will extend the area that can be used for access and engagement activities in the future.
