Polish Heritage Penley: “Polska Penley, Preserving a Legacy" Honouring, celebrating and preserving Polish heritage through an oral histories project in North Wales.

Polish heritage in Penley is a testament to resilience, hope, and cultural pride. Rooted in the resettlement of displaced Polish individuals after World War II under the UK’s Polish Resettlement Act of 1947, it honours those who contributed to the Allied victory yet could not return home. Once known as "Little Poland," Penley hosted one of the largest Polish resettlement camps. While visitors from around the world trace their roots here, many residents remain unaware of this rich history, forged in hardship, now at risk of being lost. Our mission to honour the past while fostering a future of pride and inclusivity. We will; gather personal stories, oral histories, curate exhibitions, volunteer-led events, and conduct community engagement. This coproduced project will rekindle connections, revive traditions, and celebrate the Polish community’s enduring strength. We are commitment to safeguarding Penley’s unique Polish legacy, ensuring it continues to inspire and unite future generations
