We will celebrate and elevate the heritage of Mossley by: • Producing a Community Heritage Archive of Mossley [CHAM], telling the story of how Mossley grew from a tiny hamlet in 1305 into one of the most important 19c Northern textile towns, boasting 41 mills and more cotton looms than anywhere else in the world. • Delivering a community recording project to feed and future proof the CHAM - capturing lived experiences, stories and heritage from local people. • Launching the Mossley Time Machine, a new interactive visitor attraction and interface to bringing the CHAM to life and make it fully accessible. • Enhancing and future proofing the historic 161 year old Whit Friday celebrations with new events and the first new procession banner for a century. • Updating the famous Alfred Holt book, The Story of Mossley, to mark its centenary.
