Preserving with Chutneys and Chats

Our project aims to bring together the local diverse community, promoting cultural exchange, and culinary heritage preservation through the "Chat and Chutneys" initiative. By bringing together individuals from diverse backgrounds, we will create a welcoming space for sharing recipes, stories, skills and traditions associated with chutneys (and preserves). Participants will learn about the rich history of chutneys, dating back centuries in various cultures. We will explore diverse culinary techniques used to create chutneys, from pickling and preserving to slow cooking and fermentation. Participants will have the opportunity to discover popular flavours across cultures, and lesser known traditional recipes. This collaborative project will promote cultural understanding and contribute to the preservation of traditional recipes at risk of being lost due to changing lifestyles and dietary preferences. By documenting and sharing these recipes, we hope to ensure that they are preserved and continue to be enjoyed and appreciated by future generations.
