Prosiect Tirwedd Llwyndewi Landscape Project

Llwyndewi is a brand-new nature reserve in the headwaters of the Llwchwr. It contains important habitats, but has been largely unmanaged for many years. We will undertake surveys to understand the current and potential value of the reserve’s upland habitats and create a ten-year management plan. Features we already know to be important include Willow Tit and Glow Worm. We will deliver land management to restore habitats, for example through grazing, mowing, and scrub control – carefully informed by our new data. We want to create a special place within Bannau Brycheiniog, celebrating and promoting the landscape to communities outside the National Park. These communities are crucial to the wildlife and landscape, but often feel disconnected from them. We want to bridge that gap. Our legacy will be the transformation of neglected land into a resilient nature reserve and increased understanding and appreciation of wildlife in the local community.
