Protecting Hargate Forest
Nearly thirty years on from taking ownership of Hargate Forest with the help of a grant from National Lottery Heritage Fund, we want to make the woodland better connected and thriving for nature whilst promoting understanding of its heritage significance for visitors and the local community. By purchasing two adjacent woodland plots that are at risk of being sold off for development, we will increase the woodland habitat from 61.7 to 70.8 hectares. By managing the site as a whole and inviting volunteers to take positive action to help us restore its natural habitats, it will gradually fulfil its long-term potential as a resilient and biodiverse haven for wildlife and people.
