Nature And Landscape
Building on the success of NLHF “Bats in Churches”, Natural England, Church of England, Churches Conservation Trust, Bat Conservation Trust, and Caring for God’s Acre are pooling expertise for a four-year England-wide project that: Broadens engagement: reaching 130K people, prioritising underserved communities, to enable enjoyment of natural/cultural heritage through NightWatch events, school sessions, Challenge Badges, hands-on workshops and online connections. Supports practical action: working across c. 75ha priority habitat (2,400ha+ indirectly) benefiting 23+ protected species. We’ll work with 150 Sacred Places to develop management plans that deliver for built and natural heritage, and people. We’ll involve more volunteers to deliver better access, enhance biodiversity, and enable care of built heritage with specialist cleaning workshops/small equipment. Builds professional capacity: provide tailored training for 740+ individuals including CPD opportunities. We’ll create apprenticeship/undergraduate training opportunities to inspire new generation of ecologists/building specialists. We’ll share specialist information via online training and professionals’ forums.
