Queens of the CIty

This project will celebrate migration and Walsall heritage through the women/queens of both in newly arrived and established communities. Our definition of a queen is strong women with a story to tell and lessons to be learnt. This will be through a focus on migrant journeys, heritage through food and archive illustrations and pictures. The project will recruit and train 20 volunteers of which 10 of these will progress to become heritage ambassadors to deliver 50 workshops to 5 schools and 5 community organisations over the life span of the project. All the workshops will use shared experiences of migration and heritage with the children and community members involved. The project culminates in the creation of a digital archive for heritage materials, hold an exhibition of the work created through schools and community groups and co create a mural that celebrates the women of Walsall through heritage and culture.
