Nature And Landscape
This project will revitalise the Dove Marine Laboratory (DML), celebrating its heritage as a hub for marine research and community engagement, addressing future societal and environmental challenges. An Education and Outreach Programme (EOP) will facilitate co-created science projects, focusing on environmental sustainability. Storytelling of local heritage and science will be woven throughout using art and digital outputs, including virtual and augmented reality, scientist interactions, fieldwork, and a permanent museum-style area within the building. Simultaneously, a capital project will enhance physical access to the historic site, modernise aquaria, and upgrade classrooms with state-of-the-art digital facilities, fostering real-time engagement with world-class research. The project prioritises inclusivity and participation, ensuring accessibility for diverse communities, including those with disabilities and neurodivergence. The overarching goal is to empower communities to play an integral role in environmental stewardship, connecting them with the future of their marine heritage.
