Culture And Memory
Through this project, we want to record, preserve and share the history and stories of the Loughinisland area before they are lost. Many older residents hold knowledge that has never been written down or recorded, and there is no central place where the area’s heritage is documented or made accessible. By gathering oral histories, carrying out a heritage audit and creating a digital archive, we aim to protect local memory, strengthen community pride and make the area’s heritage easier to understand and celebrate. The project will also bring people together across generations and give volunteers new skills through training and involvement in delivery. We want this work to create a foundation for future heritage activity and ensure the story of Loughinisland is available to schools, local people, and the wider public for years to come.
