Red Light Busking presents Kanda Vol.1 - Bedroom Shut, Music Up

Our project, Red Light Busking presents "Kanda Vol. 1 - Bedroom Shut, Music Up," aims to explore the cultural shift for African Caribbeans in Waltham Forest during the early 2000s, focusing on the impact of music from that era. We will delve into the effects of imprisonment on families and communities, capturing this through oral histories, interviews, and physical collections of bedroom items from that time. The collected items will form a set design of a typical bedroom, while oral histories will be transformed into music tracks, offering an immersive audio experience that highlights ongoing inequalities affecting the new generation. Through this, we aim to foster understanding, preserve cultural heritage, and promote social change.
