Red Room Inspired: Engineering Futures

We want to inspire people through heritage automotive engineering, a craft and discipline increasingly at risk. The project will redevelop the Red Room exhibition at Haynes Motor Museum, which showcases over 30 iconic red cars including a 1930 Alfa Romeo 6C, a 1956 AC Ace and a 1981 Lamborghini Countach. Reimagined as an immersive and interactive environment, the exhibition will ask ‘How do designers and engineers transform a vision into reality’? The transformation will include STEM interactives exploring heritage automotive engineering and design, exploring themes such as body & paint, materials and aerodynamics. A wraparound learning programme will deliver bite-size Haynes How heritage modules for post-16 learners, curriculum-linked workshops for Key Stage 2 and 3, sessions for home-educated learners, a Young Engineers Club, community outreach and an annual careers event. This project will ignite imagination, broaden participation and inspire the next generation of heritage engineers while shaping wider Museum redevelopment.
