Restoring Willow Woodland Wildlife – Connecting People and Nature

Our vision is to connect people with their natural heritage by providing a programme of volunteering, skills development, citizen science and wellbeing opportunities structured around the restoration of wet willow woodland and its threatened wildlife. Natural heritage restoration will strengthen and link habitats in nature recovery networks across the landscape, helping species such as threatened willow tits to thrive and expand. Taking part in tailored events, engagement programmes and practical conservation activity, local communities will discover, access and value the wildlife in their neighbourhoods and gain benefits through connection to nature, including conservation knowledge and skills, and improved health and wellbeing. We will boost the local citizen science resource to help support ongoing natural heritage recovery. By conserving and connecting wildlife sites, Restoring Willow Woodland Wildlife will help deliver Local Nature Recovery Strategies across Greater Manchester and Cheshire and Warrington, contribute to sustainability aims and tackle the Biodiversity Emergency.
