River Access for All

Our ‘River Access for All’ project will reduce barriers to river access, both mentally and physically, to re-bridge the multi-generational disconnect of the Waveney Valley communities to their rich waterside heritage through nature exploration along the River Waveney. Through delivery of a range of engagement activities and events, working alongside community support organisations, we will collate and preserve oral history of bathing in the River Waveney for subsequent generations, share knowledge, build understanding and awareness of river health and biodiversity. The project seeks to create new designated public bathing water sites on the river and improve paddle-sport access, provide diverse volunteering opportunities, creating new and supporting existing volunteer groups within community riverside nature reserves. We will facilitate a sense of place, of community connection with nature, pride and responsibility, stimulating engagement and providing inspiration for the next generation of advocates and natural heritage guardians.
