Our rivers are a natural heritage, in decline. The Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust (YDRT) believes in the vision that Yorkshire Dales rivers are clean, diverse, well-connected and valued by all. Our mission is to enhance and protect the rivers Swale, Ure, Nidd, Wharfe and Ouse and neighbouring catchments, by delivering practical and educational projects, engaging with communities and working in partnership. Through the Rivers4Life project, communities will learn about rivers and wildlife, reconnecting with them and increasing ownership of sustainable living to help our rivers thrive. By showcasing our work, we’ll improve understanding of river habitats, biodiversity and natural flood management. Targeted events will reach new audiences, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment for healthy rivers. We’ll inspire a broader audience to enhance their physical and mental wellbeing by spending time in blue and green spaces. By connecting people with nature, we’ll encourage them to protect our natural world.
