Nature And Landscape
Our vision is to open up the UK’s natural and cultural heritage to people who rarely get the chance to experience it. Many BAME communities especially South Asian and low income groups feel disconnected from landscapes, walking routes and the stories behind them. We want to change that. Rooting for Heritage Routes will help people feel confident outdoors and understand the heritage held in places like the Lake District, Peak District and Yorkshire Dales. Through a mix of workshops, local walks, camping weekends and YHA residentials participants will learn new skills, discover the history of the land and see how their own stories connect. Our aim is to build pride, improve wellbeing and make heritage feel like it belongs to everyone and for them to grow into natural heritage ambassadors who can lead others, shape activities and pass on a love of the outdoors to their families and communities.
