Culture And Memory
The project is designed to empower communities of Gloucestershire through storytelling, celebrating cultural traditions and creating a legacy of oral history recordings. It will involve intergenerational collaboration bringing together residents aged 60+, including those living with dementia and memory loss, carers and 11–18-year-olds. This reminiscence initiative will involve youth groups across the county who will engage with the recorded stories, interpreting and comparing the recollections with their own life experiences. Taking inspiration, they will be invited to produce creative works to share within their own communities to develop a deeper understanding and connection between generations. Gloucestershire Archives will provide resources and support for content gathering and will foster learning and knowledge sharing opportunities, promoting new relationships and understanding among participants through workshops at the Hub. The project will preserve stories of individuals that might otherwise be lost, creating a legacy of shared cultural heritage.
