Culture And Memory
Our vision is to preserve, celebrate, and share the rich heritage of the Moroccan community in Westminster, ensuring that the stories, traditions, and contributions of past and present generations are recognised, valued, and accessible to all. Through Roots & Resilience, we aim to create a lasting digital and physical archive of oral histories, photographs, documents, and cultural practices, capturing experiences that are at risk of being lost. We will empower young people to become active storytellers, connecting them with elders and inspiring pride in their heritage, while fostering intergenerational learning and community cohesion. By combining oral history, digital storytelling, and Moroccan culinary traditions, our project will strengthen cultural identity, promote wellbeing, and highlight sustainable practices rooted in heritage. We aim to create a model for how communities can explore, preserve, and share their own histories, leaving a lasting legacy for Westminster, the wider Moroccan diaspora, and future generations.
