Rothbury Estate: for nature and the nation

We will safeguard the historic Rothbury Estate, in the heart of Northumberland, and develop it into a national flagship site for natural and cultural heritage. We will develop a vision for the future of the Estate by: -Carrying out surveys, appointing specialists and listening to local people, farmers, visitors and other stakeholders to understand the needs and opportunities of the site for nature, culture and communities; -Co-creating a new, integrated approach to land management where nature recovery underpins sustainable farming, climate resilience, public access and resilient, connected communities; -Laying the foundations for a 40-mile nature corridor across Northern England, with the Estate at its heart. This project will develop management plans for ‘Tranche 1’ of the Estate (already in our ownership), support us in securing funding towards the purchase of ‘Tranche 2’ (the remainder) and inform the management plans for the Estate as a whole.
