This project will enable the Featherstone Rovers Foundation to properly care for its collection, train staff in storytelling, gather significant objects, and acquire the necessary equipment to preserve and display its heritage. It will strengthen the Foundation’s relationship with the National Coal Mining Museum of England (NCMME), while bringing to light the rich oral history and historical memorabilia that showcase the mining industry's connection to rugby league. The project will highlight the role of women in rugby league and engage both the community and new audiences with this heritage, ensuring it is not lost over time. The project's legacy will expand the heritage story throughout the district, reaching rugby fans who are not typically part of traditional heritage audiences. It will include an inspiring digital exhibition, improved collections management and display, the creation of new networks, including with NCMME, and the fostering of a stronger community spirit.
