Culture And Memory
Salt and Stone captures the heritage of life in East Kent through traditional story-telling and archive-inspired film. Digital Drama will deliver training workshops for local volunteers in Sandwich and Deal to uncover, preserve and share memories of work and leisure in these vibrant coastal communities. Partnering with local heritage organisations, this project enables participants to learn reminiscence, oral history and story-telling skills to foster their confidence and enhance employability. Together with Digital Drama and Age UK, volunteers will co-facilitate reminiscence sessions and oral history recordings to inspire the creation of a new community ballad and BSL-interpreted short film, featuring archival material from museum collections. Through these outputs, the project enables people to explore and share the stories and heritage of their towns in an inclusive, accessible way, engaging with both their neighbours and visitors to Kent via the partner museums and online platforms.
