To secure the appropriate and sensitive long-term management of a unique block of species-rich grassland and to use it for public access and as a farmer demonstration site for best practice regarding Priority habitat (Purple moorgrass and rush pasture; ancient woodland; hedges), Annex II species (Marsh fritillary butterfly) and a range of threatened Priority species.
