Nature And Landscape
Scottish seas are vital to a healthy planet. The Scottish seabed is capable of storing half of Scotland's carbon emissions, yet marine habitats are under threat from pollution, climate change and poor protection. There is huge unmet demand for strengthening marine connections across Scotland’s central belt and remote rural areas. Focussing on these regions Scottish Seas Roadshow (SSR) will engage 8000 people including schools, youth groups, communities and businesses to safeguard the ocean. Over three years SSR will deliver a step change in marine engagement through interactive workshops, outdoor learning and community-led citizen science. Our events will connect people to their local marine environments, supporting health and well-being through access to blue and green spaces. Through data-driven citizen science, education, engagement and advocacy SSR tackles marine pollution at source, cleaning up our local blue spaces, increasing ocean literacy, inspiring positive behaviour change and supporting vital legislative protection for our ocean.
