SETTING A STEADY COURSE TO NORTHWICH

DAPS aims to assess the feasibility of establishing a secure winter base for the vessel Danny at Navigation Yard in Northwich, with maintenance support from Northwich Dry Dock Company. This would address the lack of suitable facilities at Liverpool Docks and Sutton Weaver, while providing year-round access to a well-equipped maritime setting that supports the vessel’s long-term preservation. The project will also explore the potential of bringing Danny into Northwich Town Centre through technical studies and stakeholder consultation, building on existing relationships with local authorities and partners. This could position the vessel as a focal point for celebrating Northwich’s maritime heritage and contributing to wider regeneration, alongside attractions such as Lion Salt Works, Weaver Hall Museum, and Anderton Boat Lift. DAPS will strengthen governance through Trustee training and develop a new ten-year conservation management plan to ensure effective stewardship of the vessel’s heritage and future.
