Culture And Memory
2025 sees 80yrs since the end of WWII; a war predominantly no longer remembered within living memory. We’ll commemorate it with a 10-day free exhibition and event series at The Forum, Norwich, supported by a lead-up programme of community and schools’ participation, with legacy displays and activities. It provides a final opportunity to capture unknown memories and stories of those communities whose lives were changed and affected by the US Army Air Forces personnel who gave their lives during the war. We’ll bring to life hidden stories behind American servicemen and women, and British civilians whose lives were thrown together in a war which changed our world forever. Many veterans’ stories are shared but what about stories of Norfolk communities whose lives were changed overnight? And post-war generations whose families have an everlasting American-British connection. This project ensures this heritage has legacy, is inclusive and accessible to a wide audience.
