Culture And Memory
The Over 50s Black Men Forum (O5BM) envisions an oral history project that aligns with our mission of improving the lives of Black men aged 50 and over. Here are the key goals we aim to achieve through this project: 1. Capturing Untold Stories: o We seek to collect and document personal stories, memories, and experiences of older Black men within the community in Essex. o By preserving these narratives, we will ensure that voices that might otherwise be overlooked are heard and valued. 2. Building a Legacy: o Through capturing of our oral histories, O5BM will help create a lasting legacy for future generations. o Older Black men can pass down their experiences, cultural heritage, and life lessons to younger community members. 3. Fostering Connection and Empathy: o Listening to personal stories will help us foster empathy and understanding within our community.
