Steart: Connecting Coastal Communities

The ‘Steart: Connecting Coastal Communities’ project is at the heart of WWT’s commitment to create inspiring, accessible experiences for people that nurture a deeper connection and understanding of wetlands. We will build on a decade of experience working in the community, taking our ambitions to the next level through innovative multidisciplinary partnerships with leading national experts from their respective fields, including art, STEM, and youth engagement. Together, our tailored engagement programme, will increase understanding of positive coastal change and enhance Somerset’s natural and cultural heritage. We will focus on young people and local communities, building stronger connections with wetlands to showcase a positive, resilient future where communities thrive in a changing landscape. Resources and learnings from this project will guide and structure engagement and education priorities in the wider Somerset region, directly informing future partnership bids; and it will act as a model of best practice for WWT’s national work.
