Our vision is to celebrate and strengthen the cultural identity of Mid Rhondda by reconnecting local people with the area’s extraordinary heritage. Once a global centre of coal mining, sport, music, and working-class activism, Mid Rhondda has shaped generations through its resilience, solidarity, and creativity. Through this project, Cambrian Village Trust will work with Spectacle Theatre, Citrus Arts, and Rhondda Heritage Centre to explore, interpret, and share stories linked to iconic sites such as The Track – The Mid and the Cambrian Combine strikes. We aim to empower communities to better understand and take pride in their history, fostering a stronger sense of belonging and wellbeing. By engaging local residents, schools, and volunteers in creative arts, performance, and heritage-based activities, we will preserve collective memory, create new interpretations, and inspire future generations to value and protect the unique landscape, history and culture of Mid Rhondda area.
