Sustainable Heritage for National Mining Museum Scotland: Phase One

National Mining Museum Scotland (NMMS) is responsible for safeguarding and providing access to Scotland’s mining heritage. This project is the first phase of a wider master plan that will enable us to address our sustainability and resilience through financial and operational challenges which are affecting our ability to care for the collections, A-listed site and the mining heritage of Scotland. This stage of the project is integral to the wider plan and the immediate sustainability of NMMS. For this project, we will: Move NMMS collections and office staff from current building to an existing building on site. Provide remedial works to the building that will be repurposed as store/office. Hire short term Collection Assistants to assist with this move. Hire Project Officer and Development Officer to explore NMMS future aspirations. Bring energy consultant to conduct pilot project. Bring consultant on board to review immediate situation at NMMS and provide reporting.
