Tees Invasive Species Project (TISP)

This project aims to achieve an overall reduction in invasive non-native species (INNS) along the River Tees. It will develop and retain strong relationships with stakeholders, landowners and community groups to improve access and biodiversity now and in the future. Education is central to the project and we will work with schools throughout the Tees Catchment to educate and improve learning and access to blue spaces. The main project focuses are community partnership, restoration of access to important amenities/heritage, management of INNS (including through innovative techniques) and development of a robust funding strategy to ensure that the work continues to grow past the project end. Benefitting people, places and the natural environment, it will leave a legacy of a countryside that is safer to access, walk through, play, swim, fish, enjoy water sports, as well as a more biodiverse and more valuable asset for the Tees catchment.
