The project will commemorate the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sir Nigel Gresley on 19 June 26 who lived and worked in Doncaster. We will achieve this through: • A permanent small exhibition at the Danum Gallery, Library & Museum in Doncaster, augmented by a temporary larger display in 2026. • Interpretation of his life story and its relevance including his works and legacy through records and artefacts of the Gresley Society and project partners. • The development of our interpretation and learning offer to support outreach and to engage with new and particularly younger audiences. • Creation of a film to explain his life, works and significance. • Safe storage & public access to The Gresley Society and partner organisations’ disbursed archives, artefacts and libraries. • Digitisation of key records of The Gresley Society and other partner organisations • A symposium to be held in 2026.
