The Heritage Telephone Box Project

The Heritage Telephone Box Project will build telephone boxes as interactive heritage listening stations, preserving and exploring Calverton’s working-class history while supporting individuals with dementia. Through oral history workshops, intergenerational stained-glass art sessions, and soundscape creation, the project will revive lost stories, traditional craftsmanship, and place-based identity. Digitally, we will create an online heritage archive, ensuring stories are accessible for at least five years. The project’s legacy includes: • Three telephone box installations as community heritage hubs, which will be used to tour and build an exhibition for future use • A stained-glass artwork, preserving local craft. • A digitally archived oral history collection, ensuring long-term access. By embedding heritage into daily life, we ensure Calverton’s past strengthens its future.
