Culture And Memory
The Hunslet Club: Past, Present, Future will celebrate and share over 85 years (1940–2025) of the Club’s history while strengthening its role within today’s diverse communities in South Leeds. At the heart of the project is a co-created public mural, a bold, permanent artwork celebrating the Club’s heritage and imagining its future. A specialist mural team will work with staff, members and young people through structured workshops and community forums to shape the mural’s content. Young people will lead the creative process, gathering stories, conducting interviews and digitising photographs and documents to create an accessible digital archive, supported by alumni and heritage partners. The stories collected will also inform permanent corridor displays and heritage open days. The legacy will be a community-owned artwork, stronger intergenerational connections, and an organisation better equipped to share its story and plan for the future.
