The Ipswich Heritage Harbour Project - Phase 1: mobilisation-&-testing

The Ipswich Heritage Harbour Project will preserve and promote Ipswich's maritime heritage, to enrich the community: economically, culturally and socially. The Project will work with a sailing barge (sb), other heritage boats and buildings around Ipswich's waterfront, and our collections of >2,000 historic photographs, plus artefacts and documents. This application is for the Project's first phase, to test the integration of sb Victor into our programme, prior to buying it. [Victor already operates an charter business, which we plan to maintain alongside the vessel's Project activities.] To connect the next generation with our maritime heritage, we will offer events in schools, get children on the water, and maritime bursaries for young adults. We will deliver an events programme, culminating in a maritime festival, to educate and raise awareness. By rebuilding Ipswich's connection with its maritime roots, we will make maritime heritage a force for the good in our community.
