The Land of Oak and Iron Story (LOIS)

The Land of Oak and Iron Story (LOIS) project will continue preserving and celebrating the Land of Oak & Iron’s rich heritage by reconnecting communities with their industrial, cultural and natural heritage through education, conservation, and active participation. LOIS will capture historical knowledge at risk of being lost, promote greater community engagement (especially among young people), and, with key stakeholders and partners, strengthen the Land of Oak & Iron Trust’s (LOIT) resilience for the future. LOIS aims to leave a legacy of a thriving, independent Trust supported by strong partnerships, an active volunteer network, and lasting community engagement. We will have created dynamic inclusive digital resources, engaging displays, that reflect a contemporary approach to heritage, embracing technology and innovation to connect with wider audiences. A sustainable model will be in place to ensure the Land of Oak & Iron’s heritage continues to thrive and inspire future generations.
