Culture And Memory

The Lost Flavours of Igboland

Elevators is a registered Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), charity number 1212655, focused on empowering disadvantaged and under-represented communities through education, cultural engagement, and heritage preservation. Our work builds confidence, participation, and pride by creating inclusive opportunities for learning and creative expression. Based in Oldham, we particularly support young people, ethnic minority groups, and those facing social or economic challenges. We design projects that bring different generations together to share knowledge and safeguard cultural traditions at risk of being lost. Through The Lost Flavours of Igboland, we aim to preserve endangered culinary heritage, strengthen intergenerational connections, and make heritage accessible to wider audiences. We are committed to the Heritage Fund’s investment principles: saving heritage, encouraging inclusion and participation, working transparently, sharing outcomes openly in line with open data principles, and building organisational sustainability to ensure long-term community impact.
