We aim to tell the story of the early years of Birmingham’s Hip Hop heritage for the first time, shedding new light on the international influence, the political nexus and the local idiosyncrasies of the Birmingham Hip Hop scene in the 80s and 90s, preserving stories in danger of disappearing for good. In so doing, we wish to grow the confidence, resilience and identity of Birmingham Hip Hop, and inspire others to contribute their own stories and to shape a new wider perception and understanding of the subculture.
