The Marlpit Dyers' Garden

The Marlpit Dyers Garden will support residents to forage, grow and tend plants and flowers to harvest as natural dyeing materials, whilst learning about the rich history of natural dyeing in Norfolk. The project will weave stories of the land within creative pieces whilst cultivating a community garden with pollinators and wildflowers to boost bio-diversity of local habitats. The Dyers Garden will be located at Marlpit Community Gardens, a 7acre site adjacent to Marriott’s Way, a 26-mile hedgerow path. Activities will include practical conservation such as using willow craft, making plant fertilisers with hedgerow weeds, re-wilding and habitat protection. The project will support communities to: - Preserve and share traditional land-skills, conservation, and dyeing techniques through hands-on learning with natural resources. - Enhance biodiversity and protection of local natural habitats through resident-led conservation. -Create a sustainable community of skill sharing and support for each other and the garden.
