Culture And Memory

The Morgan Family Legacy

Our project aims to engage an intergenerational group of adults experiencing isolation, poor mental health, and barriers to participation in exploring and celebrating Newport’s heritage through creative practice. We will support participants to research, interpret and reimagine the legacy of the Morgan family and key local landmarks, building confidence, skills and social connection. Through structured, supported sessions and accessible site visits, participants will gain a deeper understanding of local heritage while developing creative and collaborative skills. The project will culminate in a public showcase combining visual art and performance, enabling participants to share their work and voices with the wider community. We aim to reduce loneliness, increase wellbeing, and empower participants to see themselves as contributors to cultural heritage. The project will also strengthen partnerships and create a replicable model for inclusive, community-led heritage engagement that can continue beyond the funding period.
