The Salus Heritage Project

In 2026, WHiST will celebrate 40 years of empowering women in South Tyneside. Through this project, we will honour the strength, diversity, and resilience of women who have shaped our community, recording how lives have changed and how women have coped, thrived, and led change. The Salus Heritage project will bring together WHiST’s heritage with national/ local histories of women’s health, told through individual stories. We will support women who feel excluded from heritage to build skills, confidence, and connection ensuring everyone has a place in our shared history. Volunteers will help make heritage accessible and through creative work we will be able to amplify voices often unheard. By highlighting the successes and challenges of the past 40 years, we will create a blueprint for future services and support. The project will champion the wisdom of women, stepping back into our past to move forward with shared values and vision.
