The Welsh Christmas Caper

Through 'The Welsh Christmas Caper' we want to celebrate the festive heritage of Wales and the long-standing traditions of pantomime, making them accessible to everyone. Our vision is to create a joyful, truly inclusive project where disabled and non-disabled people can explore Christmas customs such as the Mari Lwyd, Calennig and plygain singing, and share their own memories of pantomimes and festive celebrations. Working together, participants will co-create a brand-new performance that reimagines these traditions in fresh, accessible ways. The project will give disabled people a leading role in telling and shaping cultural stories, ensuring that their voices, experiences and creativity are visible in our shared heritage. We hope the project will inspire communities to see heritage as something living, playful and for everyone. By the end, we want people to feel proud of their local festive traditions, connected through shared storytelling, and confident that heritage belongs to them too.
