‘Town Mill Regeneration - Improvements & Wider Engagement'

Lyme Regis Town Mill is a working water mill restored in the 1990’s run by volunteers and producing stone grown flour, providing workspaces for small businesses and the Malthouse, an arts/community space. Following a Lottery funded 2021 independent appraisal we want to provide new activities and inclusive opportunities for local organisations and individuals, who have already indicated support, recruit new volunteers and continue the mill's 'free to visit' model. Our proposals will implement new interpretation and physical, artistic designed improvements, ensuring this heritage asset is preserved and sustainably enhanced, ensuring a high-quality presentation to visitors. The carbon reduction projects will generate free electricity and improved efficiency of the mill's hydro-electric unit. They will also enhance community well-being, benefit the local economy, and provide new volunteering and engagement opportunities for marginalised groups and individuals. The financial resilience of the Trust and the artisan-based makers at the site will be improved.
