Trojans: Why Am I In Your Country? (Stirling)

Through this project, we will create a valuable oral heritage archive of refugee/asylum seeker stories, preserving their voices for future generations, through a series of regular psycho-social support drama workshops. We record life-story interviews that explore why our participants fled their homes, their journeys to the UK, and their experiences of rebuilding life here. These interviews—conducted with care and, where needed, interpreters—will be edited and archived at Stirling University and shared publicly through our podcast and substack, "Why Am I in Your Country?" Alongside this, our ongoing psycho-social support workshops offer a welcoming space where participants build confidence, improve English, and create new community ties. The workshops also feed into creative outputs, including a play combining participants’ testimonies with The Trojan Women, which will be performed and filmed (funded separately). This project ensures refugee/New Scots' voices are heard, valued, and preserved as an essential part of our collective heritage.
