Culture And Memory
This project will investigate the relationship between Merseyside and Ukraine from 1945 to the current day involving 80 Volunteers. A core group of volunteers will work with Whispered Tales to research the heritage and to gain the necessary skills in order to create a high quality interview for archives. The volunteers will then be supported to interview 60 people made up from: Ukrainians who sought refuge in Merseyside since March 2022, their host families and key Merseyside organisations that supported the refugees. Working with Whispered Tales the volunteers will create an exhibition that will share edited highlights of the new heritage archive. The exhibition will be installed at Liverpool Central Library for 3 months and will then tour to the Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King and Shevchenko Library for 1 month each. The new digital archive will then be deposited into three archives.
