Unspoken Histories

Unspoken Histories will achieve an increase in visibility of some of the least heard people of Bolton-the marginalised voices of women with lived experience of mental illness who are under-represented and stigmatised due to their differences and life experiences. We will help women document their unheard stories through performing oral narration of stories, poetry and narrative films, to be shared online and at an event. We will create quilts that can be exhibited in Bolton so that the wider community can view their stories. We will celebrate the resilience of the women who have suffered silently carrying shame and stigma for so long, acknowledge their bravery, and make sure that their stories are never forgotten.A poetry book will be produced to showcase these lived experiences and allow them to be shared for generations to come. We will apply for films and quilts to be archived at Bolton Library and Museum Service/NorthWestSoundArchives.
