Culture And Memory
We want to discover, record, document and make available the history of our movement in Lancashire, and older people’s experiences of ageing through the generations, since we were established on 11th December 1941. This will be encapsulated in a digital archive, film and book. For the future, we want to record young people’s perceptions and expectations of how they think ageing will affect them and create a time capsule to look back in the years to come. During the project, we want to raise our profile, increase awareness of our work and celebrate our impact over 85 years. We want to use this milestone to encourage people of all ages to support our cause through volunteering, donations and legacies, inspired by the stories shared through the project. Finally, we want staff and volunteers to keep the story going by training them in recording oral histories and curating our ongoing history.
