Culture And Memory
Voices for Pride is a heritage learning project, that will focus on securing contemporary LGBTQ+ heritage in the city of Portsmouth and its surrounding town, as well as researching and discovering the history of its past. We will deliver a portfolio of vocational opportunities for young people focusing on multimedia and research skills so that they are empowered creators of not just today's but the forgotten heritage of the local area. The project aims to record the rich representation of LGBTQ+ people at Pride UK 2025 and raise awareness of LGBTQ+ history locally through a series of events and exhibitions. Young people will record oral histories and document the progress of Pride as an event in Portsmouth. The project will enable young people and partner organisations to have the confidence and skills to help new local Pride events, build on the heritage foundation which they have discovered and promoted.
