Voices of Change: Uncovering the past and shaping the future. Celebrating Sunderland’s Voluntary Sector CommunityHeritage

This initiative will celebrate and safeguard the invaluable cultural heritage and the contributions of Sunderland’s Voluntary and Community , Social Enterprise Sector (VCSE) over the past 50 years. Through storytelling, reflection, and the rediscovery of hidden histories, it will highlight pivotal moments that have shaped the sector, in response to recent political shifts, financial challenges, and rising demands. Despite these pressures, Sunderland’s VCSE sector remains a vital force for community development, cohesion and community impact. This project will foster collaboration, raise awareness, and strengthen the sector’s capacity by exploring the evolving role of volunteers across generations and by engaging members and stakeholders in amplifying third sector voices, rediscover lost heritage, and drive meaningful change. By championing the resilience and impact of the VCSE sector, this initiative serves as a catalyst for growth, ensuring it remains adaptable, relevant, and equipped to meet future needs while securing its lasting cultural legacy.
