Culture And Memory
Dolen Cymru represents a pioneering model of international partnership and people-to-people diplomacy. By systematically collecting 30 oral histories, artefacts, and archival materials, Dolen can ensure that the stories, experiences, and contributions of individuals and communities in Wales and Lesotho are preserved for future generations. This is especially vital as memories and physical records risk being lost as time passes. We will fill gaps in our history and give a voice to those who have shaped the partnership. The project will foster a sense of belonging and pride amongst the city of St. David’s, reflecting on their city’s role in Dolen’s journey linking Wales and Lesotho, will reinforce local identity highlighting the community’s international connections. This will also encourage intergenerational dialogue, bringing together younger and older people to learn from each other’s experiences. ‘And there's loads we can learn from Lesotho at all times.’- Lord German, President of Dolen Cymru Lesotho.
